Writing

I began to develop a passion for writing in college while working towards my undergraduate degree in English at the University of Michigan. I believe that writing is one of the most powerful means of inspiration.  As I have grown and changed, I have found that my voice has changed as well.  This page is a collection of my writings, fiction and non-fiction alike.

The reflection of the sun in a small puddle of water, left behind from the last, brief rain, caught my eye, holding my attention for longer than usual.  It seemed to me as though I were looking through some sort of portal into the past, catching a glimpse of a history that I had not learned, yet was a part of who I was from the very beginning.  The water was still, but the light danced back and forth upon its surface, playing with my eyes while at the same time enchanting my mind.

I pressed my palm flat into the puddle of water, halfway thinking that the golden energy that shimmered within it would be transferred into my body, causing me to glow like the sun.  The water was cool in comparison to my skin, and it sent a slight shiver up my arm to my elbow.

Standing up, I let the water drip off my hand as I walked onward, the ocean far upon the horizon and the sun overhead.  Droplets of water trickled down to my fingertips and then dropped down to the ground, some of them landing on the hairs on my legs.  I imagined that the same golden essence permeated my skin and was working its way into my muscles, revitalizing that which had become weary from walking.
